Ace and Wright are known for their heroic rescue during the 1883 Mumbles lifeboat disaster.
== Lifeboat Rescue ==
Ace and Wright were daughters of the [[Mumbles Lighthouse]] keeper Abraham Ace<ref></ref>. On the January 1883 a German barque named 'Admiral Prinz Adalbert' of Danzig was caught in a storm and the Mumbles Lifeboat came to rescue the crew<ref>Liquid error: wrong number of arguments (1 for 2)</ref>. When the Mumbles LIfeboat got into trouble Wirght and Ace, waded into the surf and tying their shawls together to use as a rope rescued two of the lifeboat crew who had fallen overboard<ref>Liquid error: wrong number of arguments (1 for 2)</ref>.
== Recognition ==
The bravery of Ace and Wright was not recognized by the RNLI but they did receive gold broaches from the [[Empress of Germany]] for looking after the barques crew. [[Clement Scott]] wrote a poem 'The Women of Mumbles Head' in tribute to their heroic actions <ref></ref>.
