James Patten Paul (17 July 1817-3 April 1891) was a Mormon pioneer who traveled to Utah with the David H. Cannon Company in 1861. Through one of his wives, [[Peter Hughes]]' widow [[Elizabeth Evans]], Paul became the stepfather of [[Martha Hughes Cannon]].<ref></ref>
