Osl2015: italicized book title

Harlan Lebo is a non-fiction author who writes on the sciences, the humanities, society, and digital technology. Lebo is also a senior fellow at the Center for the Digital Future in the USC Annenberg School of Communications and Journalism.

Books
Lebo is best known for being the author of four books about the making of a trio of motion pictures ranked by the American Film Institute as the best ever made: The Godfather Legacy, Casablanca: Behind the Scenes, and two books about Citizen Kane (a photo-focused large-format book for the film's 50th anniversary in 2001 titled Citizen Kane -- The 50th Anniversary Album, and a comprehensive text-focused book for the 75th anniversary titled Citizen Kane – A Filmmaker's Journey, which was published in April 2016).

Even though Citizen Kane is perhaps the most studied and critically appraised motion picture of all time in academic publications, scholarly anthologies, and biographies of Orson Welles, Lebo's second book on the film is notable for being the only non-fiction narrative work that is devoted entirely to the complete story of the making of the film: the background, planning, studio infighting, production, clashes with the Hearst organization over the portrayal of lead character Charles Foster Kane, and its eventual release.

Lebo has been an invited speaker on his books at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), the University of Michigan Special Collections Library, and the UCLA Film and Television Archive.

Other work
Formerly a magazine editor and assistant vice president in corporate communications, Lebo also worked in external affairs at UCLA. Lebo has developed communication programs in cooperation with the Nobel Foundation, the National Endowment for the Humanities, the U.S. Departments of State and Defense, the National Science Foundation, and proprietary clients in education, technology, and digital media.

Lebo served as the historical consultant to Paramount Pictures during the 50th anniversary release of Citizen Kane in 2001. Lebo also led UCLA's communications team for the 1999 science mission of the Mars Polar Lander, a joint effort between NASA and the university.
