Moses Sanchez was born in the [[Republic of Panama]] to his parents, Gilberto and Yodalys, in 1977. Inspired by [[President Ronald Reagan]], the Sanchez family legally immigrated to the United States when Moses was five years old, at the same time as brutal dictator [[Manuel Noriega]] was rising to power in Panama.
As he grew up in California, Moses was taught the importance of hard work, serving your nation and community, and obtaining a good education. These lessons shaped Moses and put him on the path to future success.
After graduating high school, Moses enlisted in the [[United States Navy]] and continues to serve in the reserves to this day. Sanchez served 4 years of active duty, which included a tour in [[Afghanistan]] in 2011.
While in the reserves, Sanchez earned a Bachelor's and an MBA from the University of Phoenix.
Moses met his wife, Dr. Maria Manriquez<ref>https://ift.tt/2JEq5V6>, while living in California. They moved back to her home state of Arizona in 2003 and have lived in Phoenix for the past 14 years.
His passion for education led him to the classroom, where he has taught micro and macroeconomics at [[South Mountain Community College]] in Phoenix since 2008.
Additionally, Sanchez won election to the [[Tempe Union High School District]] Governing Board in 2012 with over 30,000 votes from his community. Sanchez served a term as Board President and oversaw the management of a $150 million operating budget for the school district.
