Auguez was born in [[Amiens]], Her father, Auguste, Jules, Arsène, was employed by the railway. A student at the [[Conservatoire de Paris]], she obtained a third medal for [[solfège]] in 1885, a [[First Prize (music diploma)|first prize]] for [[opéra comique]] in 1886, a second singing prize in 1887 and a second prize for opéra comique in 1887.<ref></ref>

Her debut on stage dates back to 1887<ref></ref> in Saint-Saëns' [[Proserpine (Saint-Saëns)|''Proserpine'']], and Chabrier's ''[[le Roi malgré lui]]''. Her first important role, on 29 March 1888, was at the [[Opéra-Comique]], in ''Madame Turlupin'',<ref>[http://bit.ly/2HijXkB ''Madame Turlupin''] on [[BnF]]</ref> an [[opéra comique]] by [[Ernest Guiraud]], where she played Isabelle. She then sang in ''le Baiser de Suzon''<ref>[http://bit.ly/2RVcRGB ''le Baiser de Suzon''] on BnF</ref> by [[Herman Bemberg]] (premiere, role of Suzon); in Gounod's ''[[Mireille (opera)|Mireille]]'', Maillard's ''[[Les dragons de Villars]]''… On 30 January 1889, she premiered [[Louis Varney]]'s ''la Vénus d'Arles''<ref>[http://bit.ly/2HlN7PQ ''la Vénus d'Arles''] on BnF</ref> at the [[Théâtre des Nouveautés]].

On 11 December 1891, at the [[Théâtre des Variétés]], she was Denise de Flavigny, in Hervé's ''[[Mam'zelle Nitouche]]''. Still at the Variétés, she later played in Offenbach's ''[[les Brigands]]''.
