List of senior civil servants in the Department for Work and Pensions

Noswall59: /* Permanent Under-Secretary of State */

The Department for Work and Pensions is the largest department in the United Kingdom government in terms of staff numbers and spending. Responsible for welfare and pension policy, it was established in June 2001 through the merger of the Department for Social Security with employment-related functions from the Department for Education and Employment.

Since its establishment, the DWP has been headed by a Permanent Under-Secretary of State (commonly referred to as the Permanent Secretary) who chairs the Executive Team. The Executive Team's membership has consisted of Group Directors or Directors-General with responsibility for strategy, operations, policy, delivery or professional and corporate services. The roles and titles belonging to Group Directors and Directors-General have undergone significant changes since 2001; the latest change in management structure occurred in April 2019.

The heads of several government agencies have also been members of the Executive Team. These have included the chief executives of the Benefits Agency (later the Pensions Service) and the Disability and Carers Service (established in 2005), which were merged to form the Pension, Disability and Carers Service in 2008; the Child Support Agency which existed until 2008; and the Employment Service, which became the Jobcentre Plus in 2002 and existed until 2011.
