'''Jean-Baptiste Favory''' (1967) is a French composer of Musique concrète, electronic music and sound artist.
== Biography ==
Born in Paris in 1967, he's the son of Catherine Fournet and Michel Favory, and the grand son of the conductor [[Jean Fournet]]. He's composing since 1989 and his first works were broadcasted on the national French radio [[France Culture]] in 1994.
In 1995, He's composing the first [[Sound design]] for an Internet provider : [[Infogrames]]. The same year, he starts working for theatre, composing sounds & musics for Victor Haïm.
From 1996 to 1999, he was working in [[Luc Ferrari]]'s studios La muse en circuit, and has been the assistant of Composers like [[Gavin Bryars]], [[Luc Ferrari]] and Brunhild Ferrari.
In 1997, He obtains a 2 months residency in [[Monterrey]], Mexico, for composing ''Leyendas Urbanas'', with a 180° video projection by Pierre Jacob Colling in the planetarium of the city. In Monterrey, two years after, he's meeting the Mexican Free-rock group Los Lichis. Several concerts and recordings, In Mexico, France, and a double LP in USA.
From 1998 to 1999, he was student in the [[Iannis Xenakis]] musical center in Paris ([[CCMIX]]). He took masterclasses from [[Jean-Claude Risset]], [[Curtis Roads]], [[Trevor Wishart]], [[Gerard Pape]], Harry Halbreicht and [[Julio Estrada]]. Then, he starts to work in CCMIX, as the assistant of Paul Méfano and [[Eliane Radigue]].
Since 1999 to this days, Jean-Baptiste Favory is hosting a radio show dedicated to experimental musics of the world : ''Epsilonia''. Some of his guests : [[Eliane Radigue]], [[Julio Estrada]], [[Jean-Claude Risset]], [[Gérard Pape]], [[Denis Dufour]], [[Jean-Claude Eloy]], [[Michel Chion]], [[Paul Méfano]], [[Haino Keiji]] , [[Allain Gaussin]], Bérangère Maximin.
Since 2000, he 's working on the music & sounds of several theatre pieces : for directors like [[Marcel Bluwal]], [[Jean Gillibert]], Gérard Maro, [[Robert Fortune]].
In 2007, He's joining the CLSI : Circle for Liberation of Sounds and Images. A composers/performers' band created in 2007, interpretating [[graphical scores]] with electronic devices in real time. The circle is directed by [[Paul Mefano]]. Concerts in [[Stockhausen]] festival in 2008 and a record with saxophonist Yosh'ko Seffer, One former member of [[Magma (band)|Magma]] in 2016.
Favory is considering music as a sound-theatre of our perception. He wants us to enter in the sound, where musical tempo and the natural mooves of the world are entwined. He's presenting new musical structures which correspond to the way he hears the world through sounds collected during his travels and studio experiments. He's composing hybrid sounds in movements, for creating an altered state of conscienceness.
