There was one Japanese tourist who visited Taiwan and discovered the potential of animal café. Although there are some countries in Europe and America which also have animal cafés such as Spain, Germany, France, United States, Australia. Due to the fact that the first animal café was a cat café in Taiwan, cat café is one of the most common animal café. [[Cat café]] is like a basic animal café which can be found easily especially in Asian countries South Korea, Taiwan and Japan.

Some of cat cafés create a good interaction between cats and humans. some of cat cafés look after and feed cats who were stray cats or abandoned by people.<ref name=":1" />Cat cafes provide those cats home, food and affection. Also, customers who visit a cat café regularly and are interested in raising cats can be potential adopters of cats. Cat café's staffs try to find a perfect adopter for cats<ref name=":1" />.

[[Dog]] café is another really common animal café. People who like dogs would enjoy their time with many different kinds of dogs at the dog café. == Controversy ==
Because the animal café is closely related to the animal issues, there has been some constant controversies about animal safety. Some people thought that the way the animal cafés operate their business is really harmful for animal safety. Some visitors of animal café in Japan express their concerns for the safety and welfare of the birds.<ref></ref> They argue that there is a natural daily routine for birds but this animal café does not care about it, café has to be aware of the welfare and safety of birds. In addition, the owner of cat café in Thailand was arrested by police due to the disobedience against the Animal Protection Law. Seven cats died at his café due to the poor safety care.<ref></ref> Also, such welfare and safety problem of animal café can be found in South Korea as well. For example, animals in café are constantly fed by people, they cannot sleep until the cafés shut the door late at night. <ref name=":2"></ref> Furthermore, safety problem is also subject to the customers who visit animal cafés. Some customers who gained injuries by animals at the café complained about the safety policy when the person in charge of café argues that they do not take any responsibility for injuries.<ref name=":2" />

As a result, Japanese government had made much stricter Animal Protection Law which strengths the new rules and restricts trading hours of animal café in order to release controversies.
