== Biography ==
According to his mother's interview, Ihar studied not very well, graduated from the professional college as a car mechanic, then served in the [[Armed Forces of Belarus]]. After demobilization, he started to work as a forwarder, delivering candies to shops and then — doors. In 2002, he met Tacciana and started to live with her. Ihar and Tacciana have engaged in real estate since 2003 or 2004. They were finding lonely old people, mostly alcoholics, with big debts for utilities, and proposing them to pay their debts, give some money and a cheaper house in exchange for taking their current housing. In 2009, Ihar killed a client with a bat after closing the deal, strangled a client's cohabitant and buried the corpses in a village cemetery with a help of recidivist Kalesnikau. After not paying some of the clients, Ihar was sentenced to 5 years of prison, his wife — to 4 years for fraud and illegal business. After early release in 2012, Ihar and Tacciana returned to fraud with housing. Their new companion became [[Siamion Berazhnoy]], who hasn't been involved into crimes before. Hershankou obtained a list of major debtors and started to work with Larionov, a lonely man in Mahiliou. Berazhnoy portrayed a municipal employee and showed a mix of real and fake documents to Larionov, creating an illusion that his house will be taken away by the city. Hershankou proposed him a deal. According to Berazhnoy's testimony, Hershankou forced him to kill Larionov and get rid of his corpse after closing the deal. Hershankou and Berazhnoy left the city with Larionov and gave him vodka with [[clonidine]]. After losing consciousness, Larionov was tied up and buried alive in a village cemetery in [[Chavusy District]]. In 2013—2015, three more people were killed the same way.<ref name=nav060917 />
Ihar Hershankou, his wife, Berazhnoy and Kalesnikau were arrested in 2015 after failing to kill a seventh man. Mahilioŭ regional court began to hear the case in 2016 and sentenced two people (Ihar Hershankou and Berazhnoy) to death, two more (Kalesnikau and Tacciana Hershankova) to 22 and 24 years in prison respectively in 2017. On 28 November 2018, Hershankou's mother came to SIZO-1 in Minsk, trying to see her son, but she was told that he's "departed with belongings", and the court recognized the execution.<ref>Liquid error: wrong number of arguments (1 for 2)</ref> According to Viasna-96 human rights group, Hershankou and Berazhnoy were executed on the night of 19-20 November, based on indirect signs.<ref name=spr2 />
