Raiklen's notable commissions include work for the Lewis and Clark Bicentennial titled ''Discovery'', a mixed reality giant projection event for the Center Theater Group's 50th anniversary, episodes of ''Star Trek Continues'', and a violin concerto for ''Worth'', a film that landed him on the Academy Awards Shortlist.<ref></ref> To date, his projects have starred actors and actresses Elliott Gould, Doug Jones, Blythe Danner, and Martin Sheen.

David R. Raiklen was born in Long Beach, CA where he was influenced by music and learned to play several instruments including the accordion and the violin. He graduated from Long Beach Polytechnic High School in Long Beach, California.<ref></ref>

Raiklen has spent years creating compelling, heart-pounding, uplifting and wonderfully melodic tracks for various films.

David Raiklen's first film score was a dramatic short, ''Chasing Contentment'', followed by a family comedy feature ''Boone Style''. He then began a long collaboration with Dr. Elliott Haimoff, a prolific producer of documentaries with ''Atlantis: Secret Star Mappers'', where ancient and electronic music could be heard in his work.<ref></ref>

Since 2005, Raiklen has collaborated regularly with best-selling author and screenwriter Marc Scott Zicree on several projects. In 2009 Raiklen was the co-producer, composer and sound design lead for an adaptation of the ''Magic Time'' Trilogy of fantasy novels, published on Amazon Audible.<ref></ref>

In 2007 writer-director Anne-Sophie Dutoit invited Raiklen to collaborate on the score for her first film ''Kara's File''.  The film featured a live orchestra and showcased his versatility and passion for composing various genres of music.<ref></ref>  Later that year, he began an association with the ''Star Trek'' franchise by assisting on Hugo and Nebula award nominated series ''World Enough and Time''.<ref></ref> 

The music for the 2011 documentary film [[Heist:_Who_Stole_the_American_Dream|''Heist: Who Stole the American Dream?'']] was arranged by Raiklen.

In 2014, Raiklen scored ''33STR8'', a documentary chronicling the Los Angeles Lakers 33 game winning streak during the 1971-72 season. The documentary featured basketball legends Jerry Buss, Kobe Bryant and Phil Jackson.<ref></ref>

David's work on the highly anticipated science fiction film ''Space Command'' garnered positive feedback from fans of the genre as well as his peers. The film starred Doug Jones, Bruce Boxleitner, Robert Picardo, Bill Mumy, and Mira Furlan with Raiklen wearing the producer and composer hat. Raiklen also created the Kickstarter campaign that would eventually set funding records among the crowd funding platform.<ref></ref>

Raiklen was commissioned by the Center Theater Group to compose the music for their 50th Anniversary celebration. The large augmented reality event was created by director Kate Johnson, and took place over several blocks in DTLA on May 20, 2017. In 2018, the Mount Wilson Observatory commissioned Raiklen to capture the history of the universe through music. The Universal Orchestra performed the musical exploration live in the Observatory.<ref></ref>

In 2018, Raiklen gifted the fall Roy W. Dean Film Grant winner $15,000 in theme music and score for their project.<ref></ref>
