== Early and Personal Life ==
Kuldip Maity was born in the village of Pancharul in West Bengal. As a child he was influenced by his father Ajit Maity, a well-known social activist and his will to serve those who were less fortunate, which led him to choose his career in the microfinance<ref> Mumbai News - Times of India|last=Dec 11|first=Ei Samay Updated:|last2=2017|website=The Times of India|language=en|access-date=2020-04-02|last3=Ist|first3=23:04}}</ref> industry when he moved to the city of Kolkata, where he would later settle.<br />
== Career ==
Starting with just 100 employees, Kuldip Maity and the newly christened [[Village Financial Services]] <ref>Liquid error: wrong number of arguments (given 1, expected 2)</ref> (popularly referred to as VFS) began their journey in earnest. The year was 2006, and the company had a portfolio only in the state of West Bengal. However, rapid expansion and growth was on the horizon, as he was able to use his technical know-how and industry reputation to grow the company in an exponential manner. Since its initial days, the company has grown ten-fold as today it commands a portfolio of over Rs 1000 crores and is present in 13 states of India.<br />
== Board Membership & Affiliations ==
Kuldip Maity is the founding member of AMFI- WB(Association of Microfinance Institutions) – West Bengal, which was founded as a self-regulatory body in 2006, and an ex board member of Sa-dhan<ref></ref> ,an association of microfinance institutions (MFIs). Sa-Dhan is the second association in the business of micro-lending to be given the SRO status by the central bank.<br />
== Awards ==
Kuldip Maity, Managing Director and CEO of VFS, was adjudged as the Champion of Change by a committee headed by former Chief Justice of India, K G Balakrishnan for his exemplary work in aspirational districts of India. The honour was bestowed upon him by the honorable Vice-President of India, M. Venkaiah Naidu.<ref></ref>
Kuldip Maity, MD & CEO, was judged as the "CEO of the Year" by ABP News Banking Financial Services and Insurance (BFSI) Awards held on 28th November 2018.<ref></ref>
Kuldip Maity, MD & CEO of VFS, was awarded with the "BFSI Leadership Award" from Dr Amitabh Rajan, IAS, Reserve Bank of India Services Board, and Dr Kavita Gupta, IAS.<ref></ref>
Kuldip Maity, MD & CEO, VFS, was conferred the Niche Industry of the Year Awards: Microfinance, 2018 from Eastern Chamber of Commerce for outstanding contribution in the microfinance sector and towards poverty reduction and women empowerment in various states.<ref></ref>
On 16<sup>th</sup> of February, 2020, Kuldip Maity, MD & CEO, VFS was awarded with the " Business Leader of the Year" award, by ET NOW.<ref></ref>
