== Life ==
In 1180's He used to be vassal of [[Guzan Abulasanisdze]], ruler of Tao-Klarjeti. The turning point in Zachariah's fortune came with Guzan's rebellion against [[Tamar of Georgia|Queen Tamar]], Zachariah remained loyal to the Queen and together with some other nobles, put down in 1192 the revolt. For this he was kindly rewarded; he was given Panaskerti to secure frontier borders in [[Tao-Klarjeti (historical region)|Tao-Klarjeti]]. The new froentier duchy comprised areas of [[Şavşat|Shavsheti]], [[Klarjeti]], [[Tao (historical region)|Tao]] and [[Speri (region)|Speri]].
His descendant, Taqa Panaskerteli, Duke of Panaskerti, defeated the [[Turkmen people|Turkomans]] invading Georgia in about 1302 at [[Tortum|Tortomi]] Castle.<ref name="traditio">[[Toumanoff, Cyril]].
