Longfield, he was searching dykes near [[Benfleet and Southend Marshes|Benfleet]] for ''Lestes dryas'' when they were the first to discover a specimen of ''Coenagrion scitulum'' in Britain. They first captured a male and subsequently two females three quarters of a mile away.
