Joshua Shaw was born in the rural [[Queensland]] harbour town of Gladstone. His father, Micheal, is Australian and his mother, Monica, is an Australian of Russian descent. He attended primary at Kin Kora State School until 2002, before moving to high at Toolooa State High School then changed to Gladstone State High School in 2004 where he dropped out 2 years later in 2006[5]
Throughout high school Shaw was an "A+ grade" student studying physics, science and maths but decided to leave high school after being accepted to study Electrotechnology Maintenance Systems & Controls at the Central Queensland University (CQU) in Gladstone City 2017. During this time he starting an apprenticipe as an Electrical/ Instrumentation Technician at Queensland Alumina Ltd.(QAL). In 2011 Shaw completed his apprenticipe and studies boasting a CERT IV in Electrotechnology Maintenance Systems & Controls and a dual trade license as an Electrician and Automation Technician. From 2011 to 2015, Shaw worked on a number of projects commissioning Distributed Control Systems (DCS)and Safety Instrumented System (SIS) across a wide range of industrial process's around Australia. He worked in an ammonium nitrate plant in moranbah QLD, gas and oil facilities for Santos in the Simpson Desert, SA and Origin Energy in the Darling Downs, QLD.
Based in Gold Coast, his work often mixes with his interests in adventure, travel and lifestyle. Shaw frequently collaborates with tourism boards and major brands in the travel & lifestyle industry, serving as a content creator and social media influencer. Shaw has also toured with Australian comedian Josh Wade as a filmmaker documenting his Australian Cunny Down Under Tour in 2016.
His personal photographic work has seen him traveling all over Australia and to all parts of the world including Japan, Hawaii, Phillipines, Hong Kong, Macau, China, Cook Islands, Africa, California, Nevada, Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Indonesia, Thailand, Myanmar, and New Zealand on several occasions.
Shaw received international media coverage in May 2017 after one of his photographs, in which featured his Playboy Playmate Model girlfriend Jaylene Cook posing naked on top of sacred Mt Taranaki, New Zealand, went viral. In 2017, Shaw was a finalist in both the Photo of the year and Pro Photo of the year category at the 2017 Australian Photographer of the year completion.
