In 2011, he left the [[Muqtada al-Sadr]]-aligned [[Al-Ahrar Bloc]]. [[Muqtada al-Sadr]] called him "crazy" and said he would not forgive the act. On 19 September 2012 he joined the Maliki-led [[State of Law Coalition]].
