History
1976-1994
Danmer was founded in 1976 by David A. Neiman and Merle E. Rostad (the name Danmer comes from their combined initials). Dave started out as a computer programmer, and Merle was a shutter installer. They were in business together until the late 1980s, when Dave bought out Merle's interest in the company.

1994-2006
After the Northridge earthquake in 1994 devastated the Danmer factory in Van Nuys, California, Dave took on two new business partners—Jan Koorn and Alan Kane—and business grew. In 2002, Danmer hired Mark Baraghimian as CFO, and in 2004, Jim Tortoelli joined the Danmer team as VP of Manufacturing, overhauling the plant and operations of the company.

2006-2014
Mark Baraghimian and Jim Tortorelli bought the shares that belonged to Jan Koorn and Alan Kane, which resulted in Dave Neiman taking back the controlling interest in Danmer. In 2006, Dave announced his retirement and named Mark Baraghimian CEO. After Dave passed away in 2007, Mark and Jim, along with Dave's sister Phyllis Friedman, bought the remaining Neiman family out of the business. Danmer consolidated its three facilities in Los Angeles to a 105,000-square-foot facility in Van Nuys, California. The company underwent a series of acquisitions in 2009 and 2014.

2014-Present
Acquisitions fueled growth, and Danmer exited the component business and focused on its retail business of manufactured interior shutters, and then expanded to other window covering products. In 2015, the company changed its name from Danmer Custom Shutters to Danmer Custom Window Coverings. MCM Capital bought a stake in the company and formed American Home Products LLC in early 2015. That same year, Phyllis Friedman retired from the business. In mid 2016, Mark Baraghimian resigned, and Jim Tortorelli was named CEO that July. Danmer moved part of its manufacturing operation to its sister company in Gainesville, Georgia, and moved the factory, office and call center from Van Nuys, California, to Chatsworth, California in 2017.
